Our Approach
The meaning of the word Caritas is “self-giving concern and care for other people.” It is this meaning that helps inform our approach to educational programming and how we aspire to treat one another. We know that you have many childcare options and we’re glad you are now able take a peek into what we are all about. We hope you visit with us, tour our school, and partner with us in your child’s education. If you join the Caritas Academy family, we promise you that:
- Our approach is Individualized. Each child is unique and we acknowledge that by developing an individual learning plan for each child enrolled in our school. This plan involves working collaboratively with you in setting age-appropriate goals for your child that are reviewed at the middle and end of each school year.
- Our approach is Child-Centered. We want your child to be school-ready when they graduate but we also want them to be kind, growing in their independence, and resilient. We balance academic instruction with play to help develop a caring community of learners.
- Our approach is Developmentally Appropriate. We value play and group activities as meaningful opportunities for students to learn, develop, and practice soft skills like teamwork, cooperation, decision making, and conflict resolution. We balance that play with a curriculum that emphasizes STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).
- Our approach is rooted in exploration. We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all program for children. We believe that beginning at infancy, children thrive in an environment where learning is developed through exploring the world and environment around them. We want all of our students to be curious learners who seek creative solutions.
